While dancing at Detroit's Club X (oh 1996, you were so fun...), I saw a girl I'd had a crush on way back in high school. Still totally captivated by her, I basically just danced while staring at her the whole night. I really didn’t want to be doing that, though, because she clearly was not deserving of my attention. (She was a snobby rich girl to the core. You know the type!) By the end of the night, the line "why can't I ignore her" was repeating in my head. So, I stayed up extra late that evening, and this song is the result.
