I didn't claim to be in love. I didn't ask you about your mental capacity. You drink your drink so you won't think. You hold your breath so you don't blink. All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is tonight with me. All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is what I will be. The beat blasts through your sleeping mind. I watch you dance through blood shot eyes (and I like it). All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is tonight with me. All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is what I will be. If you die before you wake, you'll find sex a constant state. You will dream of nothing else. You will dream of nothing else. If I wake before I die, I will never wonder why. I will dream of nothing else. I will dream of nothing else. All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is tonight with me. All you need is a 24 hour fuck. All you need is what I will be.

I’ll take you down... I’ll take you down... Parts of me make parts of you ache with sympathy. I open my mouth and words come out. I watch your face and I just can't find it there. I’ll take you down... I’ll take you down... I’ll take you down... I'm trying so hard to be outstanding. To confuse you and make you wonder why I am the way I am, and you still haven't noticed me. I’m raging...

You say that you know you can't hurt me. You say I'm too strong. You stare at the stripes in the carpet and tell me things can't go on. And you presume to have power over my emotions, well, I simply don't need you. And you assume that I'm listening to your thoughtless words, well, I can just barely hear you. I won't be alone. Not this time. I won't be alone without your love. You see all the tears in my eyes and you say you're so sorry. You know I love the smell of your perfume. You know it's not fair. And you keep on explaining what you're sure must have happened, well, it needs no explanation. And your stupidity offers me the purist of insights and I'll tell you my new inspiration: I won't be alone. Not this time. I won't be alone without your love. Every time I think about the love that I will be without, I can't believe I ever loved you. I see through your thin disguise. You look at me to sympathize with all the things you can't undo. I won't be alone. Not this time. I won't be alone without your love.
4.
I pray that time will stop and let me take this in. If thou shall not secretly love, I've lost my heart to sin. Everything is under my control. So, tell me heaven, why can't I ignore her? She dances with herself, as I try to stare in her eyes. But her eyes are always closed. My heart beat syncs with the time. Everything is under my control. So, tell me heaven, why can't I ignore her? I can't stand spinning around, pretending to pretend she's not there. But I'm spinning even faster now. I'll lose her in the blur. Everything is under my control. So, tell me heaven, why can't I ignore her?

about

Cosmicity's highly controversial 1996 EP Syn was banned at the 1990's main U.S. synthpop label A Different Drum due to the dirty language in the chorus of the song "All You Need". He was also forbidden from performing the song at many concert appearances. Of course, that controversy drove sales due to curiosity, and this EP was the first Cosmicity release to ever go out of print.

"Syn" is often viewed as a failed Cosmicity experiment - where Mark forced his sound toward having more club appeal (since that is the only type of synthesizer-based music that was really selling in the mid-90s), but ended up losing some of the beloved sincerity that fans were craving after songs like "Awake" and "The Moment" had started to define Cosmicity's sound in 1995.

This EP has never been available on iTunes or any streaming services, though two songs ("Ignore Her" and the remix of "Inspiration") did become widely available thanks to the early "best-of" collection called "In Perspective" that A Different Drum released in 1998 to consolidate the best songs from Cosmicity's back catalog. (In Perspective was a quick way to try build on the success of Cosmicity's 1997 album Isabella).
